Icon Based Strategy Game
I have been wondering about creating an icon based, complicated Strategy game like dwarf fortress as a collab project, and decided not to procrastinate any longer. I looked around and realized that this has not been accomplished on scratch yet, although the idea is out there. Does anyone have ideas, or want to help me with one? It would probably have a fantasy theme, with a feeling of complete solitude, apart the few units with you, and of course, monsters to kill you and your units.

I have started to work on the project. So far me (on my alternate account; PixelBox)

I love strategy games! But I have never tried Dwarf Fortress. I'm just watching some youtube videos on it right now and it looks like it could be an awesome scratch project! I'm new to scratch, so I'm not sure how much help I would actually be, but I would love to help you out on this one.

Are you talking about a real-time strategy game? With units and a map and everything?

Yeah when I was watching it on youtube, it seemed to be a real time strategy game. But maybe not what you're imagining. There aren't any figures moving around in battalions, just icon units kind of like the old advance war series or the fire emblem series. They move around squares on a map, which adds the strategy element.

You start off small and work your way up to building an empire. Don't think individual missions as much as grand campaign map.. would need to be able to scroll

This would be similar to DF and it would have similar aspects, but a little less complicated and with better artwork. If you would like to more information, just ask me.

I'm working on advace wars, which is similar to icon based strategy games. But I have never seen another strategy game like it on scratch, so I think you should definately make it!!
If you need any help, I would be very happy to help you!! Post on any of my projects if you want my help, cause I tend to forget about things in the forums.
