Since we have so many brave supporters:
I don't support!
Reason: Shouldn't we forbid to repeat old stupid ideas like "humans will learn how to fly"..."the earth is not a sphere"..."mankind will fly to moon", after many generation of people found out that this all is just impossible? Yes, we could save time and still live in a cave...but, should you prevent people to use old ideas mixed up with new ones to make it possible nowadays?
Yes...I wrote what you call a "necroposts" (Wikipedia and Scratch= dead since five years)... and I'm not a "young Scratcher" neither in age (born 1968) nor in Scratching (since 2007)
Seriously...I support the general idea, that people that never read before writing should not steal others time ... but in case of so called "necroposts" there are some exceptions...This rule would only apply to New Scratchers, who usually have less than 100 posts (often less than 50) and have been active for less than a month. I respect your experience, and you understand that necroposting can be a bother for others, but if it's done properly, necroposting is perfectly fine...but someone with 10 posts and a day's experience doesn't understand that. That is why this rule would place a temporary restriction on new users so, as they become more experienced, we know we can trust them to use the forums properly. A similar example is how the use of [url] tags is restricted for New Scratchers.
OK: I agree to the original suggestion...but there have been lots of suggestions and support for it here, that enlarged the original suggestion so much, that it wouldn't be acceptable...

I agree completely. That's why I've tried to make it clear that this is not a total ban on necroposts, but just a limit for new users.
Thanks to you and soniku3!

Wow, this many supporters (all the mods I think) and it hasn't been implemented yet o.O

Yeah, this is definitely one of the most supported suggestions ever. I wish the Scratch Team would come back and discuss it--I don't think we've had an ST post here since January, although I could be wrong.
EDIT: Yep, here's the only time a Scratch Team member posted here.

Necroposting isnt always bad. If it's relevant to the topic, it's completely fine, because that is forum convention. But if it's not, then it it is spam. I dont believe in the term necroposting. For one, its not even a real english word. Whats then to stop older scratchers to perform such a task, hmm? You are making it seem as if it is some privelege you have to earn: necroposting. Wait until your a more experienced scratcher, then bam, you can necropost!

I think it should be a privilege--just like images. I didn't say it's always bad--but unexperienced Scratchers often don't understand the concept of spam very well, so New Scratchers shouldn't have this ability.

Yes. Or was that a rhetorical question?
