Re: Stencyl- A larger version of Scratch

Guys, to some people-

Stevetheipad, saying the bad part about stencyl's the learning curve-It has a difficult learning curve if you're coming from scratch, sure, but after you get the hang of it, it can be easier.

Someone out there I think said something about coding-You can edit and make code, it's not only blocks.

Illusionist, when'd you try it out? Now it might look better. Anyways, in 2 weeks you can't learn that much with it. Give it some more time and the interface and all that will get to be normal, it was weird for me when I started too, but now it's even easier than it was on Scratch.

And to the coolboy2009-  roll  They may not make sense if you're used to the scratch blocks, you have to get used to them.

I think I just basically said the same thing three times, didn't I?

Re: Stencyl- A larger version of Scratch

My personal opinion on it is that it is a bit complex and more confusing than it needs to be. The in game art engine is bad, the blocks are a bit annoying and confusing, what the heck is drawing even. But I understand it at an okay level, and I've made one game with it. I think it's really geared mostly towards platforming games, and anything that isn't a platformer or doesn't have a tileset is hard to construct with stencyl. It's a nice program, but it isn't as open ended as scratch.

It's not hard to make an isometric game in stencyl. Still, I guess you're right on one thing-Scratch can be easier with some types of projects. All depends on the type of project you're making. I make games, and Stencyl's easier for me to do that. For simulations and stuff like that, scratch can be better.
