I know mods are currently doing an Alpha test of 2.0. Are scratchers going to be able to do this at some point, ST?

In answer to both Veggie and Steve, I'm not sure about the specifics, but I am pretty sure that testing is being done for Scratch 2.0 (alpha) - it was discussed in a Scratch 2.0 Preview Webinar on the ScratchEd Website. It was mentioned that there will likely be a period that Scratchers will be able to test the new website when all of the features are in place, and only bug testing is left. Here's a link to the webinar: http://scratched.media.mit.edu/resource … ed-webinar.

I was not aware of that, that's really cool! I was just saying that I don't think mods are testing the site and that I'm not aware of that ever being said.

My system detected a new forum added to the Scratch Forums a couple weeks ago only visible to ST members and mods (and retired ones). Then. I found proof of lightnin contacting a former CM to join the discussion in "the new forum that will be posted before June".
Lucario: wow, looks awesome, it actually shows some of 2.0! Maybe I'll check it out on my laptop sometime.

There's like no way you could 'detect' a new forum being added. Care to explain how you did this?
And do you have photographic evidence of Lightnin saying this?

You didn't say how it was possible.

If it is possible, do you mind telling me how and where these things happened, instead of just being smug about it?

Hmm okay. Seems legit.
But how can you 'sense' new forums, Mr. Smartypants?

It's not that simple, you have to make a basic program for it, and do a few things.

Yes, please elaborate.
How are the mods not seeing this...?

Why do mods need to see it?

You seem to be trying to avoid going into detail.

Care to elaborate? I have time.
Sure, it's basically a program that detects the words "new forum" on the index. Then, when this popsup, it waits until my computers turns on, and then alerts me with pictures. So, I got a little curious when I found out a new forum was added but hidden to us, so I found that discussion between fullmoon and lightnin.
Case closed.

Cool. What'd you write it in? I'd love to see the source and maybe use it myself.

Actually, there are more featured I'd like to add before I release it publicly. Perhaps in the future, I will in AT.

"Waits until my computer turns on"... So the program can run when your computer's off?

No.
I mean, it won't alert me until it knows there's activity going on, so It doesn't alert me when I'm not paying attention, as it just fades out in a few seconds.

I would assume not. It just always checks when you ARE on.
