Scratch

$ scratch

Sometimes a black screen shows, sometimes it's white. CPU 100%, RAM increases.... and increases... and runs out.

I've tried the 1.4 "scratch licence" version and the 1.4.0.5 GPLv2 version and both do the same. I'm trying to get this going on Arch Linux. The previous 1.4.0.1 version loaded (but had it's own issues). Any ideas?

how much ram do you have available before starting scratch?

About 500MB.

It could be a bug with the OS and the squeak VM thats causing this

I think it is squeak-vm, as scratch 1.4.0.1 doesn't work with it either. 1.4.0.1 however did provide it's own squeak-vm which it works with, but 1.4.0.5 doesn't come with one and doesn't work with the OS's version or the version from 1.4.0.1. Why was it dropped?

I dont really know much about the VM but try a different VM than the one that comes with scratch
