This is a thread where New Scratchers can receive tips and tricks about the Scratch program and the forums from older, more experienced Scratchers. After a New Scratcher posts here saying that they would like a mentor, a mentor who doesn't have three students already can choose to mentor them. After a mentor chooses to accept a student, make a project titled "Mentoring [student name here]", then please send the new student a message and post here using this form:
I am taking a new student Student Name: Mentor Name: Link to mentoring project:
The new student can then ask questions on that project, which the mentor will then try to answer to the best of their ability. The student graduates from this program when
they are promoted to Scratcher, and have an understanding of basic programming concepts, decided by the student. When a student graduates from your mentoring please use this form:
Student Graduated Student Name: Mentor Name: Date of Graduation
If you would like to be a mentor, you must first meet these qualifications:
Scratcher Rank (Or if you are a New Scratcher and still want to mentor, you must have 100+ posts, 5+ projects, and if you have these I can choose to allow you to mentor)
Active at least twice a week on both Main Site and forums
At least 3 projects
If you meet these qualifications you may apply using this form:
Mentor Application Why you want to be a mentor:
Mentor list: schusteralex2

Let's see if this works

Mentor Application
Why you want to be a mentor: I want to be mentor because Unite and I were already thinking up of this idea and I was just about to post a thread in Collaborations about it, then when we have enough mentors post a thread in the new scratchers forum about it. I want to be mentor also because I understand a lot about how the Scratch program works and I would like to pass on that knowledge.
Scusteralex2, I think there should be a forum thread for each student instead, that way the mentors would have the scratchblock feature that would come in handy.

Maybe, although that would get a bit cluttered, and Approved Welcome to the thread

Thanks! Next time Unite contacts me I'll tell him you already took the idea. He's going to be pretty peeved at the "Scratcher rank" rule.

Hmmn, maybe I should make a loophole in there for a few of the more experienced New Scratchers
Loophole added

Should I be advertising this to some new scratchers who seem like they need help?

why I want to be a mentor:I would like to be a mentor so that I can pass on expirience. I might be a new scratcher, but behind this New Scratcher Label, I am very good at programming and use other and more complex programing languages. Plus, I have been using scratch since five months before I made this account! I am very good at teaching, plus my dad is aa teacher and have seen his teaching methods like approaching a student with a different point of veiw, or giving hints leading up to one answer. I would love to be a teacher! or in this case, a mentor, as long as I can help with out being judged by my Label!

i did this already but in a competition style- and each new scratcher get's their own experienced scratcher rather than sharing. perhaps we could help advertise each other's threads seen as they are both similar
Perhaps you'd like to get involved?
