How I got Started:
My friends introduced me to scratch about a week ago, and since about 2 days ago I have been messing around with the programming and starting a couple of different projects. I'm going crazy over all of the possibilities of projects!!
What I've Learned:
The forums have been extremely helpful, and the ability to download and dissect other people's projects has been the best way for me to gain knowledge on how to program so far. I've also learned that the scratch community can be extremely helpful in the forums, but outside of the forums, it seems almost like another world. People aren't quite as helpful, and some of the projects seem to.. shall we say.. lack in quality? (Just my two cents). Also too many people, inside and outside the forums, seem to have a craving to become the "greatest scratcher of all time", and this seems to cause people to get too hung up on their popularity. However, I'm glad my friends pointed me to the forums, because on the forums people have been actively willing to help and guide me through the confusion of being a new scratcher.
My Goals:
I don't really care if people view or like my projects at all (It's kinda nice though :p). For me its about discovering and learning new things on scratch that can be implemented in making awesome projects that I'm proud of, regardless of the views or "love-its" they gain. I want to maximize the capabilities of scratch and make unique projects that I'm really proud of.

Oh and right now I'm working on a game set in space! I'm also working on a fast-paced medieval strategy-type game which is getting to be kinda big!

Thanks!! Yeah it might be a couple of days, just because I get so easily distracted by all of the different things that you can play around with. I'm also going for a kinda professional look, so it doesn't look like I didn't spend any time on it.

It's great to see a new Scratcher who wants to make quality projects but isn't concerned about fame. Just remember that Scratch is about learning to program, and projects that "lack quality" are very important. The creators can learn from what they did and criticism.

Yeah I can see how that is important!

Ah, I applaud you. Most people these days are so caught up in the fame.

I completely agree with you. However, please keep in mind that the scratch website has many young users, leading to loads of games, animations, and projects that "lack in quality." You really can't expect an 8-year-old to start spitting out Wizard 101 style material, now can you?

Yeah I agree with you. And I would also add that some of those younger scratchers may become better scratchers someday.
