No, then you can friend practically everyone you see and then everyone, even if they didn't friend you, would have a link to a project from some guy they don't know. If they friended you when you upload your project their My Friends Latest Projects would be updated and contain your project.

What if you made it a two step process. For someone to be your friend, they have to accept when you make them your friend. If they dont know you, or have not ever heard of you, or just plain don't want to be your friend, they click deny, and then it is over. If the one person that wanted to be their friend still does, then they can communicate on the forums or on the comments list of their projects.

There already is a "My friends latest project" section on the frontpage that has your friend's latest projects. This is not really needed and people would just add practically everyone on Scratch randomly to get views.
