I LOVE the flashplayer, except it sucks. Well its awesome, and it sucks lol. Heres the only problem: In scratch, when i'm making a project, i drag the variables to different places. In the flashplayer, the variables are screwed-up and not in the places i want them to be.

You have to upload the project with all the variables showing.

Wow, I think the new flashplayer is more smart and professional, and loads more fluently. They really are making Scratch look awesome.

Re: Beta Flash player

i kind-of agree with mob-boss. flash is a non-free player so getting it functioning on some nix systems is difficult for the users, and forget about 64bit / nix basically. i guess getting in line with the masses is the thing we do.

Re: Beta Flash player

THERE'S A GLITCH ON FLASH! It's that if you use the block " play note ____ for _ secs, and then you change the intsrument, then when you share it online and play it on Flash, the instrument is always piano and the drums are only just drum. CAN YOU FIX THAT GLITCH?

It's not really a glitch, it's more of a lack of instruments. ^^;

There's basically a library of instrument sounds that Scratch uses for the instruments; this library is incomplete for the Flash player so if you choose an instrument that's not in the library, the online player will choose piano by default. Same idea with drums.

Re: Beta Flash player

The flash player is good, but for cross-platform compatibility it would be important to keep the Java one. Java can run on a much wider range of devices, especially with the open source version OpenJDK, and even run on low-powered devices such as the Raspberry Pi. It would be a grave mistake to scrap the Java one and use flash, a plugin so restrictive that only Adobe has control over...

But can you make scratch for iPad/iPhone?
And the flash player worked fine on my Android tablet. Just that i have no keyboard, and mouse control for games isn't smooth.

when iPhone clicked
until <(Apple) loves (Adobe)> or <(Scratch) makes (app)>
  can only use [Android v]
end
think [Cannot use for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch!] for (unlimited) secs

Re: Beta Flash player

But still, some hardware architectures and operating systems are not supported by flash, and probably never will be. Java, on the other hand, can be ported to any platform/processor architecture.

Re: Beta Flash player

html5 is the way to go, but then would probably be quite hard to implement. Will the Scratch 2.0 editor use flash aswell, or just the viewer?

Works great on a Samsung Galaxy Tab. Some way to bring up the keyboard would be great.

I think there have been plans to make an HTML5 player that will allow projects to play on iOS devices (using the web browser). It was mentioned heresmile

It never used javascript.

when I receive [correction v]
find <<javascript> or <java script>>
if <they meant java>
replace with [java]
end

Were you signed in? The flash player is only available to signed in users. You might also have to click a link above the project notes. Then the flash player should work.  big_smile

bye 1.4, we all loved you. but we all outgrew the site. 2.0 is a welcome change.
