On the front page, there should be a new row: What you might enjoy. Before a user posts a project, they choose out of lots of options to describe their project e.g. 3D, simulator, raycaster. You will be limited to just a few options, so you don't choose them all. The new row will have projects that have similar description options to recent projects that you have favourited, so the types of projects you like will appear in the row.
It's not the same as tags, see reply to Luke121 below
I just made this up in 5 mins, so if you have any things I could change with my idea, that would be great

You mean like the tags?
A bit, but lots of projects have random tags that don't have anything to do with the project, while this is more of a short description. Just as an example, look at Jonzo's The Taco Incident: Remake, and look at all the tags. Only a few describe what the project is about

There are so many projects with the same basic tags that the row would have trouble function IMO
If you like someone's projects, you can always add them to your friends' list so you can see their latest projects on the front page.

Maybe it could just be the most recent ones, or the ones with a high view/love it ratio?

Would not work. Just picture it, a Scratcher could just click all the boxes, and so could people with high views/love-it's.
I'm pretty sure that's not below them.
He said that you could only pick a few out of them all.
Another flaw: What if someone makes a project of a picture of a random cat and clicks raycaster, 3d, and game? Now, everyone who likes raycasters will have a random cat on that row. Do not support.

No, I said that you would be limited to only 3 or 4 choices.

It could work, but it would be susceptible to flaws such as the ones TorbyFork234 mentioned (irrelevant tagging) and could be hard to control.
I suppose, that'll be quite hard to control
