Epic Red Alert 4 Collab

Red Alert 4! A.I.

Now, temporarily I will merely be checking up on how this goes and helping out here and there. Because of the April 29th celebrations I won;t be able to help out on here too much, for I am:
1) Spreading the word of it. (Perhaps you could remix my project called April 29th, then in the project notes say "Let's get this top remixed")
2) Running the Scratcher Buddies Competition, to be finished by April 29th
3) Making a city building project to be finished by then and...
4) Finishing my long awaited Rayman 4 game for April 29th.

IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS COLLAB, PLEASE HELP OUT WITH THIS CHECKLIST! THANK-YOU.

THE CHECKLIST

so things will run quite slow unfortunately, but for now perhaps if you all ran a test. NOTHING COMPLICATED. I don't want you all having to do too much work whilst I'm off. Basically you make an enemy that:
1) Looks after power supplies
2) Can train soldiers
3) Build a battle lab
4) Upgrade barracks to robot factory
5) Makes loads of robots
6) Checks whether it has reached maximum unit level (of 20 per player)
So, try to get the top six things done by April 29th for when I will return!

Don't forget, it needs to look after cash balance (should be easy), and also not lag the game too much.


When I get back, then we'll do the following tricky stuff:
1) Letting it find a suitable spot for buildings
2) Making it command attacks and allows it to defend it's own base
3) Design the graphics for it
4) Make sure everything stays in position (scrollX and scrollY)
5) Allow the player to send units and place structures
6) Allow the enemies units to interact with player's units
7) Create the campaign.

If we are worn out by stage 7, then we'll leave it as a sandbox game instead.
Also, I've found a couple more people to help you out whilst I'm gone  big_smile

Do you intend to lead us on a port as similar as can be to Red Alert or a clone with some originality interspersed within?

erm I'm guessing what you;re question would sound like in English.

No way could it be completely cloned, however, the first red alert was done with top-down graphics, so they should be easy to master. also, if we simplify everything, but we use scratch to it's strength by adding features which would work best on scratch, then it should be brilliant! It's like with my city game:

I wanted pollution to be a factor. So I simplified it so that instead of having radii and pollution spread, I made it so that factories increase it by say 4, and parks reduced it by say 12. Simple.

So, our job is to decompose the red alert series (along with a few other army games) and simplify them.

Sorry but I live in England and it's rather late, but I'll come on tomorrow night! See ya! perhaps you two might want to use the costumes I made in the AI test (like the barracks and stuff) and try to incorporate them! Or instead, plan a different aspect of the game. Bye.

@coolhogs: Cloning? I don't really understand.
What I'm trying to do is to convert the icons that Borrego made into more spiffy 64x64 icons. Hell, 32x32 could work; but we'll figure out a little later on. So yeah. :u

Why doesn't Coolhogs use hamachi then and does whatever he needs to do with it. Also, when it comes to the cloning bit, someone else will have to do that for me. I couldn't even import the custom blocks never mind use it. We'll leave that until LAST though. Also, what icons did I make? Did I make any?

My Remade Icons.

Oh yeah! don't forget, they're only symbols to show where the enemy has placed a building. They're not buttons which you click on for stuff. So that means no text, and they all have to be the same size to fit on the ground. They're top-down view buildings basically, but instead of detailed walls and roofs, they're just symbols to represent building placement. So, sorry. They can't be used. However, they could be used later on in the interface instead. They look great!

I don't understand what you're trying to say. Why can't they be used exactly?

The text is auxiliary, I just added it to make sure you knew what each was; I can make them look less like buttons and more like squares if you want.

no, what i meant was we use your images for the interface, but leave mine as the buildings. it saves you making the images twice.

plus, there's no point you remaking your images to fit the buildings, when they're only goanna be replaced with building-like images anyway.

The images I remade from the AI test were really giant interface-suited buttons, imho.

well we still need to make them, but graphics are being saved for LAST. for now we need to expand the enemy's AI. They can't just keep building power plants all of their lives.
