Fractal Flame Art Topic

WARNING: NUMEROUS LARGE IMAGES ON THIS PAGE! If that is a problem, turn your page size down to 25 posts per page or only display images as needed. Thank you!

EDIT: MORE AWESOME PICTURES AT THE BOTTOM! HAVE FUN
Edit2: Check out cheddar's and SciTecCf's flames, they look awesome! Scroll down to see them.

Anyone else like fractals? I just discovered Electric Sheep and Apophysis. (And just learned how to spell Apophysis!  big_smile )

(get antidote!)
http://i44.tinypic.com/33wmd68.jpg

Edit: Added helpful links for people to go download. *goes off to render more sheep*

More edit: The cheddargirl of coolness showed me Apophysis 7x. Played with it for a bit, and LOVEIT!  big_smile

Even more edit: I posted one of these as a sheep! It's pretty far down in the queue to render, though, but it might get on in ~2 weeks or so.

About sheep: I have rendered over 120 frames as of now! Mainly because I set my computer to not auto shutoff and just leave it overnight.

I love Apophysis, it's an awesome fractal art program. I think GIMP has a fractal making program based on the same system used in Apophysis.  smile

For anyone who is familiar with Apophysis try Apophysis 7x, it's much more amazing.  big_smile

Yeah, Apophysis 7X is awesome.  big_smile

The only thing I don't like about Apophysis at times is that sometimes scripts fail to execute if a plug-in is missing, or sometimes the scripting for the Apophysis program is not always backwards compatible (I had an Apo animation render script that now spits out a syntax error whenever I try to run it in Apophysis 7x). Most annoying is when the failed script continues to run in Apophysis, causing the program to kind of freeze (which happens to be annoying whenever I fail to save my work ._.)

Hmm... I'm guessing you're only trying out one or two transforms with little variation? Try fooling around with the other variations and adding multiple transforms. There are a lot of tutorials and pre-made base fractal flames out there for you to experiment with if you're not comfortable with starting out making fractals from scratch (no Scratch pun intended  tongue ).

I'll post my Apophysis work in here later.  smile

Hmmm... 10 vars and 2 transforms. MOAR!  smile
wait... All you have to do is tinker with the Mutation window.

You could also tinker around with the density, gradient, final transform, Xaos control, variables, and weight.  smile

Here's a few of mine smooshed into one pic (and now you see how my desktop background looks like. It, too, is a fractal image  tongue ). The fractal in the Apophysis window are actually all the same fractal with the final transform or gradient color changed.

Cool!  smile

It looks like the weights are a bit unequal, though - one side of the image looks darker than the other... or was that intentional in the design?

The weights are unequal. I was messing with the weights while trying to figure out what to make, and didn't bother changing it back.  tongue
