I'm not sure who read the acknowledgments for Brisingr, but is says that the reference to the "lonely god" when Eragon and Arya (when did this happen? I forget) was a reference to the Doctor. (Which Doctor? It also says "because he can travel everywhere" so it might be Dr. Who)
The books are awesome! read Brisingr in 3 days!
I might make a new eragon game...

Oh, u evil king and your haxxing soldiers! Its like one of those videogames where you get shot down to 1 hp and your character is just walking around, not limping, not crawling, not bleeding out...
As for the movie? VOMIT. VOMITVOMITVOMIT. I mean, they left out tons of plot elements, changed Brom's death, killed Sloan... I have this theory that the guy who directed this movie only read the first book.let's start off shall we
parentless teenage boy lives with his uncle
who's house is burned down
but luckily he's rescued by an old man and taken on a quest to defeat the evil king
but whoops the old man dies
but not before teaching the boy a mystical art!
umm.... What about the rest of the story?

Does eragon ever marry? I'm still on the 3rd.
Nope. according to the prophecy he would have to marry Arya but the elves don't have the custom of marriage. Therefor it's impossible. The prophocy does not say that they marry though

I was reading the 4th and final book when a specific line intrigued me (<-- see mom, I have nice vocabulary) it said
what is time, but motion, and what is motion, but heat
That statement could be seen as true.
So I have a question
Would heat be the answer to how to warp time?
hypothetically it's possible to use immense heat to make the particles in someone's body move so fast that they go faster then the speed of light, or put someone into absolute 0 and have their time stop while everyone else is still going on. It would be nearly impossible to do tho.
BTW I haven't read inheritance! just doing this to waste time before I go get it.

It is terrible.
It'd be like having a dude with jeans and no shirt beating up a dragon with a baseball bat and calling it 'Skyrim The Movie'.

Lol. Or having a poorly dressed french man chase fat people around with pocket knives and calling it Tf2

At that one person all like "THERE AREN'T ANY DRAGONS IN STAR WARS": The idea is that the plots are parallels, obviously Paolini copied Star Wars and made it Medieval.
And at " I have this theory that the guy who directed this movie only read the first book.": i have this theory Star Wars movies only worked the first three times.

Both of those were me
Anyway, like I said earlier, there are about a billion books with plots like star wars, most of which came before star wars. It is very very common generic plot: Main character, often a kid or teenager, is accidentally brought into some huge conflict. Along the way other people doubt them, usually because of their youth, but they prove themself and defeat the main antagonist, usually some overpowered king type enemy. More often than not they have a veteran type character who teaches them valuable lessons, including swordfighting and being nice to others. The veteran charrie often dies at the hands of the antagonist or a similar enemy. There is almost always a traitor character (In both SW and Eragon there are several) And all the similarities you named happen in the first half of the first book, which you're using to compare all 3 movies to all 4 books.
Also, Obi Wan didn't rescue him from his burning house, he just happened to distract him so that he wasn't at his house when it burnt down, and Brom didn't rescue him from his house burning down, Saphira did.
Edit: and in Star Wars, there aren't magical swords that can cut through anythi- Oh wait, I'll give you that one. But lightsabers aren't made from meteors. (If anything, Eragon's sword AND Star War's lightsabers both remind me of terraria, where you literally build lightsabers from fallen meteors )
Both series are awesome, but just because they have a few common plot elements does not mean they are the same.

What?
You heard nothing about PLOT PARALLELS did you?
I meant that they have very similar plot twists and archs, especially in the first one.
For example, the art of Dragon Riding is the parallel to the art of the Lightsaber (and later the force)

Fine I'll rant:
Yes, there is a well-defined "Hero Archetype" story that is okay to use. However, Paolini directly stole most of his plot (mainly for the first book) from Star Wars and tried to claim originality of his story.
While Star Wars also borrows ideas from several stories, it is actually a homage to them, and intended, without him trying to cover it up. (He admits what he took stuff from).
Heck, if Paolini admitted he got the plot from Star Wars and the names from Lord Of The Rings maybe less people would hate him for it. Even then, that wouldn't dismiss that he transparently stole from a popular work, shoved it into some Medieval themed bad writing, and says he did it all.

Great series. Horrible movie. I'm making an Eragon minecraft mod.

Maybe you guys just can't accept that a 16 year old wrote a better book then you ever did. And, as I stated before, but nobody commented on, all the similarities you named happen in the first half of the first book, and you're comparing it to 3 individual movies.
Besides, take a look at this: I'm a Michael Crichton fan, and Timeline is one of my favorite books. I am currently writing a book about some people that get pulled into the past and they can't get back. Did I copy timeline? No. Events that happen in both books hardly resemble each other. But a person who carefully analyzed both books and knew I was a Michael Crichton fan would ASSUME that because I wrote a similar book, I copied him. And, as I am now saying for the 3rd time here, the plot elements that Christopher Paolini "copied" from Star Wars are extremely generic, and common in hundreds of other books and movies.
Oh,and that plot recap you posted is inaccurate. Eragon got his sword in book one? No.

He got his actual sword at the end of book 3.
He gor Zar'roc in the first book, but that's not his actual sword.
It actually belonged to Murtagh.

Dang, I waited the whole series for that? And it happened in, what, book 2 or 3?
The series was great but misnomered

I didn't realise there was a thread and started another D: I deleted it cause this one is bigger.
I love the inheritance cycle The movie was really bad though, the urgals just looked like ugly people when they are meant to be these huge boar like people with horns

The elements in star wars are common to find in books yes
same with the elements of lord of the rings
but ALL OF THEM in ONE BOOK..
but at least he cited The Empire Strikes Back and The Two Towers as source material
not to mention it was SELF PUBLISHED by his FAMILY'S PUBLISHING COMPANY

It was also the Lord of the Rings for many of the names, and also the radioactive island place. Countless names were taken DIRECTLY from the books, without even a spelling change. Was Paoloni ever sued? I read that Christopher Tolkien is known for being very litigious.
