Re: Obsolete! Block

It's a custom block that isn't installed on your version of Scratch.

Re: Obsolete! Block

It esentially does nothing. You can use it for online/offline detection, though. http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Offlin … _Detection

So long, 1.4.

Hmm... Is there a way to save data using that block?

Nothing, as it's not installed on your version of Scratch.

Re: Obsolete! Block

Well, it depends on the block. When a block that used to be in the Scratch program gets removed, it gets replaced with the obsolete! block. Like the stretch block, or the water ripple effects. The block still does the same thing, however.  smile

bye 1.4, we all loved you. but we all outgrew the site. 2.0 is a welcome change.

Re: Obsolete! Block

Basically, when you have a project that uses a block that the version of Scratch you're using doesn't have code for, it's replaced with an "obsolete" block. That can happen if either you're using an old version of Scratch, if the project has blocks from older versions of Scratch that were removed, or if the project uses modded blocks. You can read more about them here.

Guys, I think you all got it wrong. I am trying to figure out what the actual Obsolete! block does.

Re: Obsolete! Block

An obsolete block occurs when there is a script the running version of Scratch cannot handle. For example, if a block that is only on version 1.4 is shared online, and someone who has Scratch 1.3 downloads it, then the block only for 1.4 will be an obsolete block on 1.3. Hope that makes sense.  smile

To put it simply, it's a broken block that causes errors  smile

It doesn't do anything. It's just a placeholder for missing code.

How do I get it? I'm trying to make a offline/online detector...

The easiest way to get an obsolete block is probably to get one from another project - such as this one. Download the project, and then you can use the obsolete block for whatever you want, including an online/offline sensor.  smile

That'd some up with "Based on ____'s project" though, when in fact the only thing you've kept the same is one block.

You can export the sprite with the block.

You can also download an obsolete block from Scratch Resources.
