Hahaha no. Firstly, it'd be way too much pressure, secondly, my parents would never allow it, and thirdly, I get the feeling some of the ST hate me...
Why would they hate you? I,v never seen or heard of you being the least bit inappropriate.
You haven't done anything (from what I know)

I think that to become a nominee, you have to pass a test on moderating made by the Scratch Team, mainly on how you would react in different situations. Those situations would be put in a form that the soon-to-be-nominees would have to edit it. There would be "posts" on the forms that would have something wrong about them and the soon-to-be-nominees would edit those out and reply to those "posts" saying what's wrong what to do next time... basically what moderators are already doing. I think that would help people decide because then they would know how they would actually act in service.

I'm not sure if I should run or not. Some people say I'm helpful on Scratch, but I don't post *that* much on the forums (well, it varies). I already have plenty of work to do on the Scratch Wiki, as I am a bureaucrat. I'm somewhat well-known, and I've gotten quite a few front paged projects. But I have my doubts whether I would win or not. After all, there are plenty of ways I can still help the community without necessarily being a moderator. I'll have to think about it...

If you are one of the people that are being voted on, are you allowed to vote for yourself?
I'm pretty sure you can vote for yourself, since everyone can vote. I doubt the Scratch Team prevents the candidates from voting or doesn't allow them to choose themselves. I believe I've heard of candidates in the past that have decided to vote for others out of good spirit, for example.
I think you should run. if you want to anyway.

The ST chooses a few from the nominees based on past activity though.

I respect your choice, whether it be to wait or to nominate yourself. However, I do think you are ready for the responsibility and commitment based on what I've seen. You seem like a very helpful, kind guy/gal. I think you would make a great candidate.

Interesting.
I just noticed we have more retired moderators than we do currently active ones.
And I've been here for every one.
Nevertheless, I'm sure a great new moderator will be picked.

Time to start guessing the final list of nominees
If I chose 2 out of the 4 current hopefuls I would say Getty and jji7skyline.

hey could i run in this election

I wish I were 13.
On scratch I like that nobody is hated upon for their age, but rather respected for being so mature for their age

Could i qualify?

Well, do you fit the criteria given in the info link in the first post?
Anybody who fits the given criteria is free to try to run for moderator.

Cool! I'm not sure how happy my parents are going to be about the phone call, but I can talk them into it. I think I will run this year while I'm still a freshman and I don't have too much work to do yet for school.
Just as a curiosity though, how will the phone call happen and what will be asked?

Okay not hate but dislike.
And uh sometimes I can be kinda (really) aggressive and rude.

oh ok sorry
It's fine. ^^
If they don't care, why wouldn't they want you being a mod? :pMy parents can be strict. I'm 12 (one year from being able to run), but my parents think its too big of a responsibility for someone under the age of 18.
Edit: Yeah, I know. It's confusing.Oh, I see.
My parents don't even know I post here, so it'd be a bit of a surprise if I asked them if I could be a mod :p
lol same

Another question - Should I put my age in my nomination post?

Well, we ask the winner to have their parents contact us by email, and then we set up a time to talk. We basically confirm the age of the winner, describe the role, make sure it's clear that it's totally voluntary and that there are no required number of hours (school and real life come first). The CM role isn't about "protecting Scratchers from evil!" - it's more about helping other Scratchers and keeping discussions on track. But we do mention that the site does get trolled from time to time. Drama happens.
It's basically just a chance for us to answer any questions they may have and check in, so they know they can reach us if they have thoughts / concerns.

Nope, don't need to. In fact, no one really is supposed to. If you want, you can say "I'm over the age limit" - but it's kind of assumed by the fact that one is nominating themselves that they are.

Oh, and how do you select the final list of nominees?

It's funny, P2S mentioned that you seemed to think we didn't like you during a conversation we had yesterday, and we were like, why wouldn't we?
Nobody's perfect, and we don't expect perfection from anyone. Good faith and a little empathy for others will do.
