No, it's actually not possible for the ST to change your username. The only way to change it is to start over again with a new account. 
Everything is better when you add a little cheddar, because when you have cheese your life is at ease

Did you report it? If not, reporting a topic (small grey report button on any of the topic's posts) is the easiest and fastest way to have community moderator close it for ya.
