If a site has a forum, could you link to the non-forum part, if it doesn't have any links to the forum? What about if it has an out-of-the-way link?

If the forum is accessible to the public - then it needs to meet the approval criteria.  Are you thinking about making a site with a "secret" forum?  Only accessible by directly entering the URL?  I'm thinking that secrets don't tend to stay secret very long...and it would still need to meet the requirements.

Yes, it's accessible to the public, but for now, it's secret. It can only be accessed by entering the URL manually.
So I guess we have to remove those links to the static part, until 5/26.

Re: Links to Member-created Websites

if my website has a forum, and the forum was created at a later date, and the forum is a subdomain of my original site, when does it get approved? [removed by mod - please link to your site in a report]

The actual forum would have to be live for three months.

but the actual website uses a commenting system as well, but has all comments to go through me, before publishing, so would they both have to be live for three months, just at different times?

Please just pass us the link using the Report feature until it has been approved  smile

If you read the first post of this topic, you probably noticed that your site can't be approved until it has at least 3 months of experience, if you have a forums, which your site looks like it does.  This is to give you time to work all the bugs out of your site and make sure you have some experience before you "go public".  I strongly suggest you read the first post and follow the suggestions there and then reapply when you are ready  smile

Would you give an exception to the 3 month limit to a site that follows Scratch's values, and is administrated by three well-known members of the Scratch community? (I'm one of them  tongue )

I doubt it. He said before that there's no exceptions under any circumstances.

The h8 button is officially inappropriate for scratch (cuz you guys actually click it,) so I'm removing it from my signature.  You still have the like button though!

Yes...but they look pretty empty.  The idea behind the time limit was to make sure you had some experience under your belt before you "go public".  Have you read the security recommendations?  Do you have experience with trolls and how to deal with them on your site?

There's no certain post requirement, but a well-established forum isn't empty either!  wink

A forum community with good standing is usually active, so it goes to reason that the forums should be filled with threads and posts. While there really isn't a quantification as to how many threads and posts are needed for establishment (forums largely depend on the community size), there should be enough to indicate to any passerby that the community is active and been standing up for a while.  smile

That makes sense I guess, though it's a bit unfair if Scratch is the only community you're a part of, as you'd have nowhere else to advertise, leading to no posts so they'll never get approved.

I'm probably just over-thinking things ^^'

exactly.  The reason I want to get it approved, is so I can advertise it here on scratch, to ultimately give the forums more posts!  If I can't do that, we'll end up in a loop that will never end.

yes I have.  Two years ago, before I took a break from scratch, and had a website, where this policy wasn't in place!  Now it is, and I have barely any traffic!  How am I supposed to get any posts, with no one to visit my website?!  This policy makes absolutely no sense whatsoever any more to me!  and yes, I've seen the security recommendations.  I've read a book on security recommendations, and that post, looks like a direct copy of it!

That's what I don't get. My forum isn't old enough, but where else do I find people! What if it's for a mod? It's meant for Scratchers! So if you can't put the link on scratch, how the heck are you going to get posts?
