Another idea: District tokens. In the books each District concentrates on a certain thing (eg. mining) so why not have items to do with them.

So...

D1: Luxury - Gold Nugget
D2: Masonry - Smooth Stone
D3: Electronics - Redstone
D4: Fishing - Unknown
D5: Power - Unknown
D6: Transportation - Minecart
D7: Lumber - Sapling
D8: Textiles - White Wool
D9: Grain - Hoe
D10: Livestock - Feather
D11: Agriculture - Wheat
D12: Mining - Coal Mining - Coal

Didn't know what to do for D4 and D5. We can't do a fish/fishing rod for 4 since they could eat it and that would be an unfair advantage.

The tokens are just something they hold before they run to the cornucopia.

Good idea. Maybe an enchanted iron sword? Diamond is too overpowered.

Sorry. :/ Well, I guess I'll try and make sure you'll be in the next event, whatever it is.

Anyway, I've finished putting items in the chests. I decided not to put enchanted items in. Instead, at the centre of the cornucopia is an enchantment table. Tributes will get exp from murdering monsters at night. That exp will tempt them to run to the enxhantment table to enchant stuff. This will do two things to liven up the Games: 1. Draw the tributes together. 2. Encourage people to hide near it and attack when people get near which would make the games much more fun to watch.

So come on guys, discuss alliances. Hopefully there will be a career pack. For those that don't know, that's a group of powerful allies who have taken over the cornucopia and hunt down the remaining tributes one by one.

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
In order to upgrade to the newest bukkit build as well as update a couple plugins, the server will have scheduled maintenance starting at 17:00 server time (in about 5 hours). The maintenance is estimated to take about half an hour.
