Failure to start

I have downloaded and installed Scratch on a machine running WindowsXP Pro but have been unable to get it to start.  Each time I get this error:

Scratch.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

The error signature makes reference to AppName: scratch.exe and ModName: user32.dll.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but all to no avail.  I have also tried to installing it using the exe version and the zip version without success.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem would be appreciated.

Re: Failure to start

Did you just download Scratch? I am thinking it could be that the download didn't complete successfully.

sonicshadowsilver123: were you able to use Scratch before or did you always got that error?

Re: Failure to start

I had the same symptom today which turned out to be caused by my scheduled task that started Scratch at a given time whether I was logged in or not. If it started when I was not logged in, I would never see it. The 'invisible' scratch.exe process did not cause me a problem starting Scratch, but caused the problem for other users using their own logins. [The process could be seen using Task Manager/Processes]. Hope this helps someone, someday.  smile
