A bump is a post which pulls up a topic on the forums to the first page in case it got buried (as you probably know, every time someone posts, the topic involved it "bumped" up to the top of the forum).

Another thing: bumping up a post after about 1 month of inactivity, for no apparently good cause (like just saying "I agree or LOL") is termed necroposting and is frowned apon.

Although sometimes it's good to bump an old topic (just not too old) if you're having the same problem and don't want to make a whole new topic about it (because that would be a duplicate topic.)
