I don't know how much time have the forums disallowed the [img] tags, but it seems like a serious problem.

...But isn't the most logical thing to do, to only allow people with the Scratcher status to use the tags, disallowing New Scratchers to do so? That's exactly the reason the New Scratcher status was implemented for, why it has a 600 second wait between posts and why they can't use signatures. To prevent spam.

With the time required to get the Scratcher status, not to mention the fact that it's not an automatic process, it's pretty unlikely that an spammer will wait that much just to abuse the [img] tag. hmm

This was the system used in the past.
A Scratcher posted inappropriate images causing the [img] tag to be disabled.

Oh, and New Scratchers have a wait time of 180 seconds between posts.
Not 600 seconds, as you mentioned.

It already is this way. The reason that [img] tags were disabled was because someone took the time to become a Scratcher and then abued the privilege.
Oh, and as trinary mentioned, for New Scratchers, they only have to wait 180 seconds. I don't think that the New Scratcher wait time has never been up to 600 seconds, but tell me if that^ is wrong...

The person who abused the privilege was a Scratcher, though. (Well obviously, since only Scratchers could post images).

The simple answer to everything: get Antidote.

It was originally 1000, then 600, then 360 (I joined then), and now 180.
And yeah, it was a Scratcher who did the trolling. Images have been banned for New Scratchers since the status's creation.
