Learning (phonetic) Japanese!

If Swell can post about learning French here and a mod says that's okay (one did), I'm gonna be ticked if this gets closed.

Watashiha hijixyouni tanjixyunna fureezu wo shtte i masu.
(I know pretty simple phrases.)

Ikutsu ka ha amarini mofukuzatsudesu.
(Some are complicated too.)

Re: Learning (phonetic) Japanese!

I believe you mean "Romaji". Romaji is Western phonetic spelling of Japanese. Obviously not useful if there's a need to read and write in Japanese, but for Westerners trying to learn conversational Japanese it's pretty good.  smile

Re: Learning (phonetic) Japanese!

By 'phonetic' Japanese, do you mean romanized, or kana?  And if kana, do I rightly assume katakana?  I can't say I know Japanese myself....

Re: Learning (phonetic) Japanese!

Didn't one topic about someone learning another language get moved from here to RaP?

On-topic, English and Japanese are really different and it's hard to leap from one to the other, and the more you speak one the more you forget of the other.
