Re: TeamElite

Okay:

1. Go here

2. In the upper right hand corner, you should see the login. Click on it.

3. Enter the e-mail and password. (Obviously, I can't post the password, but the e-mail address is teamearth.scratch@gmail.com)

Btw, just post a comment whenever you are about to do one of the things I mentioned earlier. That way, none of us can 'overlap' each other.

Re: TeamElite

okay, so how do I find out the password? Do you want me to email you?

Edit: Sorry I'm so clueless, I've never used Dropbox or done a collab before.

That's a really good idea! Why didn't we think of that?!  tongue

Yeah, do that: just email teamearth.scratch@gmail.com, and I'll reply with the password. (: Post here to let us know you've done emailed us.

thanks ads! Sorry it took so long to figure out.

Edit: What does "simplify movement engine" or whatever mean?

Well, right now, if you look at our spaceship script, it is HUGE. I think this script could be simplified. We would also have to change it if we are going to make our Elite scripts compatible with turbo mode.

Btw, I'm not really sure if we HAVE to improve the star animation as that may slow down our game.

Well, let's focus on making a scrolling limit, making more stars, and slowing down the background. If some of these changes have already been done, please do tell me.

Btw, I will try to do one of these things.  smile

Ok, I'll work on that.
So we want it so you can't see the background and just the scrolling sprites, right?

Shouldn't sprite 1 be hiding?
It seems to be doing nothing while you're playing except make the game look junky.

Wait, wait, wait... The list is outdated. We already have a scroll limit. I meant to say scrolling background in the post above. Sorry! First of all, lets update our priorities list. Then we can work on "Slowing down the moving background."

Well if we're going to use turbo mode ANYWAYS...

Oops, sry. I think Thrystor already did a scrolling limit.

Thrystor wrote:

I added the scroll limit to the version with the star animations. Now if you go to one end of the map, you come out on the other. Our world is now round.

Btw, making a scrolling limit means the ship won't get further than the edge of the map.

Das suggested we add a scrolling limit, which we already did, and I agreed with him.

Oh, good, you already caught that (I'm a bit behind on the forum posts).

As far as I know, blob is the only one who could fix that. If anyone else wants to try though...

Attention all new people who don't know what to do: Tell us what you are good at and what you want to do right now. Then if two people want to do the same thing, we can compromise and everyone's happy. I think making the scrolling background cover the whole map area is most important now.

No!

The other stars work with the normal scrolling engine. That means, that if you would hide it, stars, that might me thousands of miles away, would be visible at the edge of the screen. If you want, feel free to test it out, and you'll see.

BTW: Another advice for beginners
If you want to modify the program, always make sure, that you're using the latest version. Otherwise we had to carry some of the code to the other project. Believe me, that's super annoying.

I could do some graphics and/or some programming.

dasbloekendeschaf wrote:

1. Implement a scrolling limit
2. Implement some more stars (I think Thrystor may have done that)
3. Slow down moving background
4. Simplify flying engine
5. Add / Improve star animation
6. Change physics for Turbo Mode
7. Draw shop
8. Implement / Improve Thrystor's shop fragment

I could take #7 and #8.

I'll let everyone else decide what they would like to do right now, and take what's left over. I'm honestly not very sure what I'm good at.

Re: TeamElite

Hmm, I think I'm pretty good at physics  smile  I don't know, I've never done a collab so most of my projects I've done all of the work for.

Also I was looking into making the ship able to shoot.  You wan't me to work on this since it's not very hard to do? How should it work?

Re: TeamElite

Okay, trinary, and bobbybee, we are creating a project named Elite. It is a space game, in which you control a spaceship. You can fly to different solar systems, collect items, and defeat enemies. This game is still a work in progress.

Okay, before I assign any of the new members to a task, I think I need to re-evaluate what we need to accomplish.

Btw trinary and bobbybee, while I'm doing this, one of you can work on slowing down the background.
