Sprites, Infinite Sprites

Why can't I tell my sprite to spawn more of itself to execute the same program? Such as a "copy" or "duplicate" block; maybe with a number indicating how many copies and/or a space to indicate the copy's designated number or name, such as a variable gap. This would allow for rapid fire weapons with shown projectiles in, for instance, a space shooter.
Scratch, though, should compensate for data storage errors with a set maximum and possibly a block that states to set a maximum or minimum copies of the given sprite. This set maximum could be a set number or no more than remaining space out of ten megabytes consumed.

Re: Sprites, Infinite Sprites

This sounds like cloning, which has been suggested.

Re: Sprites, Infinite Sprites

Cloning will almost certainly be in Scratch 2.0  smile

Re: Sprites, Infinite Sprites

Sprite cloning is planned for 2.0, and we already have the Stamp feature....
