AM3s work in the AM2+ socket? Didn't know that.    But yea, the AM2+ socket is obsolete, so the CPUs for it lag behind a little in performance. Go with one that uses Socket AM3.

@maail: Looks like you might be able to, but water cooling is kinda overhyped. It is supposed to be silent, but from experience from my bedroom PC (which uses an old Cooler Master WC model), they are far from it. It also really isn't any better than a similarly priced open-air cooler.

Well, watercooling gives you more cooling overhead for overclocking though. 

Well, WC is usually capable of a wider range of speeds/cooling rates, I'll give you that. But it mainly depends on how much you want to spend on cooling, and how much you want your PC to sound like a $3000 vacuum cleaner. Not to mention that if it is bumped too hard or much, your motherboard gets a nice bath. 

(I am not a fan of watercooling systems, if you can't tell.)

I would say ditch the 980X and buy a 2600k instead. They're pretty much equal performers and you'll save a ton of money. Unless you're doing extremely demanding threaded apps all the time and you seriously need it for productivity, the 980X is not worth the extra price over the 2600k. Use that money to buy another GTX 580 and SLI those puppies. You could even get yourself a nice SSD, which I highly recommend. Use it as a boot drive and for important programs, then use your hard drive as a slave drive for most programs and files.

Also, I don't know what operating system you're planning on getting, but I assume that you'll be using Windows 7 Home Premium x64. And, well, that only supports 16GB of RAM. Just a heads-up.

Oh yeah, and to answer your actual question, no, that motherboard won't work with that parts list. The socket for the CPU is wrong.

Ok so switching to 2600k and SLIing tem 580, but I don't really know which SSD to get. BTW: I am just building the ultimate PC possible with my current savings.
