Adding friends on scratch.mit.edu
When I try to add friends, I get a message that says 'Friend added' but then the friend is not in my friends list on my personal profile page.

We're all friends now 
The friend adding feature is working in case anyone checking this out is wondering. I made some friends today. (Note: people viewing a profile can click an "add friend" link and the friend list of both members will reflect the new friend status the next time the page is refreshed.)

Yes! We fixed the friends feature. We are trying to figure out what is the best way to make friends: symetric (i.e. Facebook) or asymetric (i.e. flickr). For now we are symetric. But at some point we will move to the model where it's asymetric first and if the other person accepts the requests it becomes symetric.
That is: I can make you my friend, you get a request saying "do you want to be friends with Andres?", if you say 'yes' then I am listed as your friend as wel (on your MyStuff page). If you say 'no', I still list you as my friend but you don't.

Is this known?
With a couple different projects, (Natalie's that was on the favorite's list last week and now Kaleidoscope Machine), my browser quits when I try to run the project. I am using Firefox on a Mac iBook, system os 10.4.8. I tried the Kaleidoscope one in Safari and had no problem, then the 2nd try on Firefox worked as well.

Hi room209, it looks like it could be related to the version of Firefox and/or Java Runtime Environment. Could you try upgrading Firefox and the Java Runtime Environment?

To add friends, you first visit the My Stuff page of the person you want to add and then click on the "add to friends" link up under their icon. If you know their Scratch username, you can get to their My Stuff page by typing the URL in your brower...the address will be of the form
scratch.mit.edu/users/NAME
where NAME is the person's username. You can also get to their page very easily by clicking on their name in a comment or in the forums. Hope that helps!

Well click on someones name that you want to be your friend. (i.e. me) Then when you get to their stuff page next to their icon will be a little question saying "Add ___ to friends list?" and if you click the button that says "add" they will be added. Hope that helps

Hmm, methinks this thread (or a cleaned-up version of this thread) should be stickied somewhere in the forums (probably the FAQ) since so many people are asking for help to add friends.

The links are on not on your userpage, but, rather, the userpage of the friend you want to add. You have to go to the userpage of the friend you want to add; then you click on the link to add them.

To make a (link to project), just type the project's url into a comment. To make another topic, click on a forum category, and then look for the link to the right above all the other topics that says "Post new topic".
I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.
