Try uninstalling Scratch and reinstalling it.

The only time I ever heard of a screen going black or isn't loading right is if you try loading a scratch get from a different version of scratch than the one you're using. Make sure the project you're trying to load is made on the same version of scratch. Maybe you could ty shift clicking again?
