I can see more problems being created with that ability rather than just reporting for a community moderator or member of the Scratch Team to do it for you.
So while it may be a cool feature, I think we can all wait a couple minutes until someone of authority gets online.

The mods are just fine with closing topics. I'm a mod on another forum, and I know; it's about an extra 10 seconds with normal internet speed.

No, it doesn't close it, it just deletes itself and can no longer be found.

Closing a topic is different than deleting one. If its closed people can't pot vicar till see stuff.
