SVG support?

I think scratch should have SVG suport because im getting tired of scratch either: A: not scaling the images properly or B: the images coming out pixelated. Scalable Vector Graphics  donr rely on pixel like rasterized graphics do, this would make scratch games look alot more professional. Im not saying that scratcdh needs to convert rasterized images to the vector format(im pretty sure that isnt possible...) im just requesting that we can be able to import them

Re: SVG support?

I remember another suggestion for Vector Graphics and I think the ST said they planned on implementing Vector Graphics into Scratch. So I believe it is a planned feature.

Re: SVG support?

I suggested this ages ago: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=8053

I recall getting some sort of response from the Scratch Team, but perhaps I reposted it to the Suggestions website... Hm...  hmm  Ah! I found it, and Andresmh, the head of Scratch at that point, basically, said this:

I totally agree, vector graphics and anti-aliasing would make Scratch projects look a bit more polished. It's a lot of work and it might make Scratch a lot slower too, but it could be a nice thing to do.

Anyhow, I think Vector graphics are far too constraining to be added to Scratch anytime soon - they use up a ton of processing power, and are just difficult to program around, as well. As far as I'm concerned, the Scratch Team have no plans to add it, but I may well be wrong. A lot of suggestions are great things to have, but just aren't practical.

Re: SVG support?

I agree! If I ever have a background of a real thing, like a forest, it looks all weird. Actually, scratch 2.0 uses vector graphics.

Re: SVG support?

I thought they were planning some vector support for 2.0.

Vectors would actually make a photograph look stranger

I had an idea for scratch 2.0 to have an xml file format here. Since SVG is xml-based, this will work nicely with that!
