Avatars and titles

Maybe for the Scratch Forums, each user can have an avatar(not to be confused with the avatar on the my stuff page) and a title to put underneath it. Maybe the forums will be more colorful and professional-looking that way.

Examples of forums that use this:
http://www.smashboards.com/
http://www.serebiiforums.com/
http://ubuntuforums.org/
http://forums.somethingawful.com/

That is a good Idea but I think it will slow up the Scratch website ALOT.We already have traffic problems I don't think we want more.

They're expanding the website space more and more everyday. Eventually there will be enough space.

Yep. Hopefully a [moderator] will see this and make the changes to the website.

The Scratch Team makes the changes. The moderators only, as their title says, moderate the website's content and take care of it.

This is a good idea, but as DawnLight mentioned, could slow down the website, especially for those with slow donnections. Maybe they should add a filesize limit for the avatar uploader.

That would solve the problem because scratch will be running extremly slow if it wasn't for the filesize limit on the avatars we use on our projects.Nice way of thinking, technoguyx!

Re: Avatars and titles

It would involve recoding the forums which would probably take a while. Sure, it would be nice, but we're doing fine without it, aren't we?

True I guess floatingmagictree wanted a better look.

Personally, I'm quite partial to the simplicity of this look. The pages load faster, and frankly I find those image-based forums annoying.

Re: Avatars and titles

Well, most of us already have a very tiny 28x28 pixel avatar that appears next to our user names when we post a comment on a project. It might just be easier to have that tiny avatar placed next to the name (preferably on the left side); no need to waste space uploading new pictures to the website, and it doesn't really take a long time for the pictures to be loaded onto the web page because of its small size. A customized look without too much glitz and glamour: how about that?

Nice Idea I like it!How about your normal Icon picture underneath the part of the post that says how much posts that specific user has.I don't think it will take much time like that either.

Maybe Scratch should have a vote or something.

Dear Scratch Users,
I'm done with scratch, or at least making projects. I have made one last big game, thats both fun and teaches a lesson about water. It'd mean a lot if you gave me feedback.                              http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/bosox397/569201
