Could we possibly add a feature that allows you to save a "read only" version of scratch project, that can be opened by anybody, even if they don't own scratch?
Say, for example, you made a great game you know your friend would love, but they don't own Scratch. So, you burn them a disc with the "read only" file on it, they open it up and click on it, and voila! The project opens in presentation mode.
I don't know how fantastic this idea is because I don't know much about how all the technical stuff in computers works, but it would be great if possible.

Indeed it is. It's called discScratchr, an application that allow you to burn SCRATCH projects onto a disc and open them up without having to install SCRATCH onto the computer. Here is a link to the thread so you can read more information on it: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5468

There's two ways: using JSO's diskScratchr - download here, info here.
or Jen's Chirp compiler - download here, info here.

discScratchr allows for you to store and carry your projects on a disc, so that you can share them on another computer without having to dowload SCRATCH to that computer. Chrip:Scratch2Exe, however, takes a SCRATCH program and allows you to execute it as a .exe files (executable file for Windows-based systems), again, with no need to download SCRATCH onto the computer.
Both are good, but, for sharing projects with friends, I prefer discScratchr.
