It's true that the removal of Misc. was a big blow to the forums. I went on there a lot and it felt a lot more comfortable to have a chat about non Scratch related things and have a good time. Yes, I do agree a lot of people have became inactive and are sad about the removal.
This has actually happened before the forum was removed. It's like people don't know the true purpose of Scratch (yeah, its kinda like "the true spirit of Christmas") anymore. Scratch is supposed to be a programming language where people are supposed to make projects, learn some basic (as in the word "basic," not BASIC) programming skills, see what others are programming, etc. The forums have made people make less projects, or just make less meaningful projects.
We should try to shift our focus more onto Scratch, not those official discussions about this and that or, like what RedRocker said, "LOOK I DRAWED A PONY![]()
" and other topics without much discussion.
You obviously have NEVER been on the Pony thread and therefore have NO right to say it's pointless or that there isn't any discussion.

I think he means threads that are just like for a single drawing of a pony someone made.

What can BE more pointless?

Sir, it's a television show which we are respectfully discussing in our own thread and we actually often do have substantial discussion about the show. That, to me, is the definition of a good thread; one where the topic is discussed.

Never said it was a bad thing.

The Scratch community seems to be be derailed...
Most talented Scratchers have left, and now there isn't a lot happening anymore.
The entire community seems to be heading the same direction as Alice.
Right
And if you were only here for Misc. then why be here at all?

HEY I'M USING CAPS BECAUSE I'M TIRED OF MY RELEVANT THOUGHTS BEING IGNORED:
While the change could be seen as for the better, especially with the more on topic Miscellaneous, it ended up being very intimidating. Too many changes were introduced at once to the point where I sort of said "I quit (trying to do this), I'll just use these two"
The categories have become over-specific, you have to browse so many more now, when they were fine being mashed into one.

The thing is with Scratch is that it's beginner programming software, I was meant to move on quite a while ago, but the community drawed me in when I joined a minecraft server. The community is the only thing keeping me on this site, I will make a project every now and then but that's about it, I stay for the ever decreasing community. The bigots, the trolls, the ignorants, the whiners, they're all part of any community, and they do sometimes ruin it. But if they do ruin a community then it's not about them, it's about the moderators.

yeah, I noticed that too.
If there was Misc and the Things I'm _____ing and ______ing forums, that would be kind of cool. Then again, that might be too many forums.

So being the most pointless thing in the world (according to you) is a good thing?

I think the antidote to not having enough mods is to get more mods, not decrease the amount of things they have to moderate.
Exactly.

I do have to agree that scratch is seeming to get less populated without misc. there's less people online it seems. But I don't mind the new threads. Plus, I think that when scratch 2.0 comes out it will become popular again.
