So,
It has come to my attention that on the thread in announcements (Become a Curator on The Scratch Homepage), 33% of of the people applying are real Scratchers hoping to become a curator. The other 33% of it is New Scratchers trying to apply for a Curator job, and the other 33% are people telling those new Scratchers they can't apply. Here are my ideas:
Idea 1: Idea 2:
I think that we should just close the |I think that we should just open the
thread to all new Scratchers, that |thread to all New Scratchers. This would
would help because then the Scratch |help because ... (what I said on Idea 1)...
Team doesn't have to go through hundreds |from people saying that New Scratchers
of applicants from New Scratchers. |can't apply.

Support Idea 1
I think Idea 2 is wrong because then as seen on other forums, there are just users who are put there to advertise their company online, spam, hack, all of the above. If a new scratcher could become curator, they can curate their own projects (on an account that is different) put up spamming projects, or not fulfill the obligations a curator has.

I really don't get the logic to the second idea. isn't it that only scratchers can apply, and if they can't post... um...
So do you support idea 1.

Idea one, yes.
Idea two is completely pointless because there's a reason it's closed to new scratchers.
Okay!

Well - thanks for trying to keep things organized! But there are a couple of issues I have with your proposals:
1) New Scratchers are "Real Scratchers" too. They just haven't earned all the privileges of full Scratchers yet.
2) I'm not sure we ever said that New Scratchers can't be curators. We do say that we are most interested in Scratchers "who have been helpful and contributing members of the Scratch community" - but that doesn't necessarily rule out a New Scratcher, if they have been active on the rest of the site.
Maybe the best solution is just to leave the moderating up to the moderators and let whoever wants to post on it do so - how does that sound?

I suppose he meant full Scratchers.
And yeah, I guess I don't remember seeing an ST member say that; users just assumed that since it never happens.
So, I guess I'd like to be taken off the list.

Support none of the ideas. I agree with Paddle2See.

Look at kayybee's post, it says this:
kayybee wrote:
What are the requirements of the curator?
•Must have the "Scratcher" status
•Must post a speech or application or whatever you want to call it in this thread
and last but not least (and actually most)
•Must be chosen by the Scratch Team.

KB didn't provide a source for it; he probably just assumed it, as everyone else did.
