Reporting posts to be moved to a new topic

I've noticed many situations where a New Scratcher will make a post in an existing thread that is off-topic. However, sometimes they will ask a question (that would be good to get answered). Should we report posts like those to be created into topics by moderators? Or do moderators not do that much because it creates confusion? It's a question I've had on my mind for a while now...  smile

Re: Reporting posts to be moved to a new topic

I think you should report them.  Leaving them in the wrong place just leads to off-topic confusion.  If the question is important enough, a moderator can break it out into it's own topic...but then the original poster needs to be told where it went or they aren't going to find it.  So then a comment has to be left on a project with a link back to the forum topic.  It's a fair amount of work and we don't do it very often - but it can be done.

Thanks Paddle. I've been wondering too.
Has the amount of offtopic posts by newbies picked up over the past few days, or is it just that I'm looking at all the topics that go offtopic?  tongue
