Scratch Game Jam

Jam in progress!

This is something I thought up yesterday that I thought would be a great idea to share Scratchers' ideas and allow newer Scratchers to be heard! The Scratch Game Jam is a program where Scratchers have to create the best game that they can in a weeks time. This is not a competition, only a way to create and share cool games. Signups are open until 11:00 AM GMT on Monday, March 12. At that time, each person who signed up will be given two game themes and genres to weave into one game. All games must be submitted to the Scratch Game Jam gallery by 11:00 AM GMT on Monday, March 19. The themes and genres can be stretched a bit, it's supposed to inspire you, not limit your creativity.

The game genres are as follows, Google is your friend if you don't know what one of the genres is.

Real Time Strategy
Shooter (First or third person)
Puzzle
Platformer
Dungeon Crawler
Beat 'em Up
Musical
Abstract
Mystery
Horror
Racing
Sandbox
Minigame
RPG
Co-op (Two players or more working together)
VS (Two or more players against each other)
Simulation/Tycoon (Hacking sim, flight sim, amusement park sim, etc.)
Tower Defense

Here are the themes. Google is also your friend for these.

Here's what you could be tasked with making  tongue

A minimalist steampunk beat 'em up sandbox game!
A cute WWII racing tycoon/simulation game!
A futuristic time traveling abstract tower defense game!
A minimalist medieval tower defense platformer!
A time travel co-op dungeon crawler set in WWII!
A musical sandbox game with mythological ninjas!
A cute post-apocalyptic simulation/tycoon puzzle!
A VS beat 'em up game with modern pirates!

All code, and art must be made during the jam between 11:00 AM GMT Monday, March 12 and 11:00 AM GMT on Monday, March 19. Code can not be taken from previous works or half-finished games. Music/sound may be made before the jam or by a 3rd party, but only if clearly stated in the description.

Wow, I just had an epic idea from looking at your list... I will definitely use it for an actual ALLCAPSRAGE Studios game even if I don't get it for the jam.  tongue

Edit: the more I think about it the more it seems like the game I'm already planning, which is still a really cool idea  tongue
