I think that all these realistic animated movies ruined the old cartoon ones, for example, Disney movies. I like seeing an actual cartoon. They call them cartoons but it's only a cartoon (in my opinion) if it
1. Is drawn frame by frame
2. Has painted background
3. Has drawn (not animated) characters
4. If it has silly, goofy sound effects
I know this is kind of random, but please post your opinion, and feel free to argue.

I hate to break it to you, but both of those are forms of animation.

i disagree completely
first off, cartoons are animated
second off, there needn't be any goofy sound effects. ever watched watership down? its a cartoon, but a rather serious sort of one
third, backgrounds dont have to be painted in order for it to be a cartoon
and seriously i like both 3d animation and hand-drawn cartoons, as long as the movie or show is any good

It's an artistic choice, considering it directly relates to the art style.
And you don't decide what a cartoon is.

Now that I think about it . . .
They are in no way ruining them.
It's not like CGI degrades hand-drawn quality by existing.

Oh, you mean 3D CGI 'n stuff? Eh. I dun really care.

Whaaaaaat
I like realistic animated movies
Can you explain what's so bad about them
Because they're cool to me
I mean it probably takes a long time to draw

i agree, especially since there are animated movies like Tintin and Polar Express that look way too realistic to be called a cartoon but good nonetheless

definitely
a lot of amateur flash animators use automated animation
frame-by-frame is always the way to go

i don't necessarily agree, a background doesn't need to be painted for it to be good
tons of vector backgrounds look great

i don't understand what you're saying

naah
cartoons don't need over-the-top slapstick with silly, goofy sound effects in my opinion
3D animation is only good when done right, but shows like Handy Manny do really horrible 3D

Watership Down is underrated

if the characters look too realistic then what's the point of animation? you might as well do live-action
