Gabe is mentioned in one sentence of messenger I think, and that's where it ends for his reference. The main character of messenger is Matty and gathering blue is Kira.

Just what caused humanity to be split into various communities spread across a river?


Also, I have a map (hand drawn by Lois Lowry) of the various communities around the river.


It totally conflicts with what I imagined it to be like.
