My SNES's Audio Is Weird. What Can I Do?

So I got an SNES for Christmas, and I've loved it ever since. The audio on it is sounding quite weird lately. I'm pretty sure it's not the cartridges, because I notice the problem with all of my cartridges.

It was worse then ever today, when I was trying to play some good ol' Link to the Past. Even when I adjusted the system and it's cords it was still acting iffy. The SNES is my favorite console of all time and I want to enjoy the amazing music some of the games have to offer. So I really want to fix this? Any advice?

That is a problem. Have you unscrewed the back and checked the connections?

No, I haven't. Haven't even really thought of that. I might do it, but it seems too risky.

It's not like you'll void the warranty or anything.  tongue

As long as you dismantle it carefully, you should be fine.  smile

Alright. Thanks. That'll be a good Spring Break project for me and my Dad.

Don't close this yet, mods. I'm still interested in other solutions.

Ooh ooh ooh! I just realized something! Have you dusted off the cartridge slot?

No.

Well, do that, then. Dusty cartridges don't work.

Re: My SNES's Audio Is Weird. What Can I Do?

I got it to work! Yay!

It turns out the cartridges weren't put in tight enough. I put the cartridge in really well, and the sound worked perfectly.

Mods, instead of closing it, could you change the title to "SNES Discussion Topic".

No, they can't.

you could try punching it
or hitting it with a stick
or turning it off and on again
those three will solve any tech problem :>

Re: My SNES's Audio Is Weird. What Can I Do?

If you use rf, change to AV cables. If you already use AV, buy a new lead, only £2. The fault is likely to be there!
