You a curator? Also, have you finished the mock-up?

I was talking about where you made the mock-up. I can't code unless I know what I'm making...

Even without the mockup, basically just Change the titles to "featured games" "featured animations" etc.

Re: The Other Frontpage

Yes, try putting you changes in a different branch, and then merging it back in later (kinda advanced, google it)

Re: The Other Frontpage

This looks like an awesome project!!!
Especially cause we still have to do some work thinking about the front page of Scratch 2.0. You guys can try out ideas, and let us know what you think worked / didn't work, and then we can consider integrating them.

Thanks. In the mean time, do you have any ideas which you want us to try out? Our audience is quite large for a small collab.

Someone in our group just sent a link to this Scratch suggestion that they liked.

http://suggest.scratch.mit.edu/forums/6 … spotlight-

We're definitely interested in thinking of ways to showcase projects by Scratchers who are just starting out / not that popular, especially in ways that can help them constructive feedback on their projects.

Another thing we've been talking about are good ways for people to share "Draft" projects  - projects that really aren't yet finished, but which the creator wants some advice / suggestions / help with.

I don't see how I should implement drafting, but here is an idea: Set up a versioning system. Since Scratch is on the cloud, saving updates the repo (I guess you could call it that). There would be these options, "Save as final", "Save as public draft", "Save as private draft". The final would be the same as uploading a project now. A public draft would be a project that couldn't be front-paged (or something similar), and is specially marked, "Draft". Scratch 2.0 could have a suggestions box for projects that would act like PMs (or private comments) that the project creator could use in the next draft.

My comments on the orange spotlight: It doesn't seem possible. It could be implemented, but it would require infinite resources. You would also have infinite projects eligible, so how do you know which to feature in the orange spotlight? Maybe when a project leaves newest projects, it gets a special entry in the database thats marked "due for spotlight" Every 24-hours or so, the database looks at the projects that are due for the spotlight, and checks whether they are eligible. If they are, it will go on a list to be featured. If they're not, they will be unmarked.

Perhaps the orange spotlight could be modified a little: have rating based on experience. Like a new scratcher would be level 1, and the scratch team would be level 100. I would probably be somewhere around 50s. The levels would be computed based on how old the account is, number of projects, quality of projects (using ratings), forum post, etc.. The front-page would be easier to get on to when your a lower level, and harder as you advance. The spotlights would reflect on level as well. (there could be 3 spotlights for, say levels 1-33, 34 - 66, and 67+)

Again, we face the problem of indexing.
