Is there a way to show and hide a variable or list when a user presses a key?

There's currently no way to show/hide lists, though that's coming in Scratch 2.0 smile

Is there a way to have a list only show when a selected background is displayed? Why I am asking this is because I am trying to have a stage or list show when a user hits a key for a game I am creating. So the list is not always showing during the game. The different lists will show weapons, potions and items the character has collected along the way.

Have a large white/background-colored sprite the same size as the list you have that shows and hides in front of the list, hiding and showing the list.
