1.2 did introduce a new save format, called Anvil. It replaces McRegion, so your old maps need to be converted. I noticed shorter load times when loading a pre-existing world (that is in anvil).  smile

So did I, 2 seconds to load up all my plugins and the server is ready to play.

I meant single player, I'm not sure about multiplayer.

Bukkit works faster for sure, might be the cleanup.

I had that too.  I started a nice world and found an NPC village but night after night one or two of the villagers disappeared, until they were all dead.

Re: Minecraft Official Topic

I had this amazing idea for a mod, here's the main part:

Right clicking on a flat surface will place a clock (obviously you need one in your hand), if you do it on the floor it will be flat like a sundial, if you do it against a wall it will be like a wall clock. From dawn till dusk the clock will act as a redstone torch, giving off power, at night however, it will be off. This could be used to create street lights which automatically come on at night, as well as many other things. This would require no new items, just 2 new models.

Are you whitelisted on our little server? I could just let you on and show you.

I can make that already, using the new villager AI!

Not as compact and reliable, villagers can go into buildings whenever, they just don't go out at night, and with this you don't need a village nearby.

Yea, cool idea, but just sayin, and the more villagers you have in huts, joined together with a presure plate and several and gates it would work.

If they don't get killed by zombies. You need to rely on too much for that to work, with this you just have a block which does it all for you, you just keep creepers away from it and you're done.
