hey mods!

Dear mods,
Please for the love of god just let us post and stop coming down like a ton a bricks and closing the thread whenever anyone ever goes even slightly off topic of gets into a heated discussion. A heated discussion is NOT a flamewar, or even flaming, it's a heated discussion about two people who have different opinions. And as for the off topic threads getting closed instantly, most threads on most forums are about 45% on topic and 55% on topic. Since these forums have a lot of kids, it's about 40% on topic and 60% off topic, off topic posts are, in my opinion not a good reason to close the thread UNLESS they have offensive/inappropriate content. I really hope I don't get banned for this, because all this is is a (ranting) post about what I think you guys need to stop doing and fix. Also because I often get into a heated discussion about whatever and the thread get closed halfway through.

Thanks for reading this,
ATVR9999

I know I'm eventually going to get banned, but I'm going to ride out on a endless, shining wave of logic.

Re: hey mods!

You can report your post, which will make a mod come look at it, probably.

Re: hey mods!

We've found that when topics are allowed to wander too far off-topic, it becomes spammy and too much of a circus.  So we try to keep things on track.

As for heated discussion - it's fine to have a discussion, as long as people are acting respectfully towards each other.  However, if things become insulting or trollish, we usually act pretty quickly to put a stop to it.  From past experience, though, we've found that certain topics are extremely sensitive and tend to generate strong emotions that often lead to a bad result.  To keep the moderation work load manageable, those topics (Religion, Politics, etc.) have been ruled "out of bounds" and are not permitted in the Scratch Forums.

Meanwhile - why is this posted in Things I'm Reading and Playing?  It's clearly none of those.  I'll move it to Suggestions since it sounds like you are suggesting a change to our moderation policies.  Please post more carefully in the future.

Re: hey mods!

Well some topics are closed because the owner said they wanted it to become closed. Or because the topic is to old.

Sometimes they close topics if someone's necroposted
