That is one of the things this topic is trying to prevent: Believe in my god or else you will burn for all eternity!!
It is okay to be public with your beliefs, it is not okay to try to make others agree with you. And, the Bible says: "Go and spread the good news of God" NOT "Be christian or burn" I really don't feel like a theological debate right now, so if you just respect the beliefs of others, not pressure them into accepting your beliefs, everyone will be better offI am sorry but I don't see very many people here trying to pressure you all into becoming Christians. We are trying to live what we believe and we believe telling others, and if they accept Him, Jesus has saved them. That is what we believe.
And I believe that there is no higher power. How is that wrong.
It seems you support "diversity", but only if it involves us being exactly like you. Congratulations. You've completely changed my opinion. I used to think that religious signatures were entirely okay. Well not anymore. I'm getting a moderator to sort this out.
One can only hope they close this topic, and ban religious signatures to boot.

I noticed how many people on Scratch have an avatar talking about god and how you should believe in him. I'm Christian, but I don't really go to church or anything, and I don't disrespect him. But I believe that there are MANY other Scratchers who are not Christian, and find that avatar offensive.
I think that religion related avatars should be banned, mainly because bringing up religion (or politics) can cause a huge argument, and sometimes an end to a friendship.
What are your thoughts? If you say you don't really go to church or anything, you, my friend, are not a Christian. Think about it.
And about religions: don't compare them to politics, and don't complain how religion based avatars could end a friendship.
You can still be Christian I you don't go to church..
and wow this topic is long

for the third time : The emphasis was not on going to church but on "or anything"

Look.
'God' is meaningless.
You cannot prove s/he is true.
You cannot prove s/he is false.
If you wish to believe, you have the right to believe.
But please respect the rights of others who do not wish to believe in your beliefs.

Could have been worded in a politer way, but this.

So yes, WE are the minority.
I wouldn't say you are a minority, at least not here on Scratch. Heck, I can't find a true religious man here, all I see is "I'm an atheist" or "I'm kind of religious, but actually I'm not".
Luke121 wrote:
And how being Religious different?
You don't know how being religious different? Well, you should know that, because if you don't, how can you decide from being religious or not; or even further, how did you decide to become an atheist?

i agree with luke;; you're pretty much trying to convert us to your religion at this point and that exactly what the people in this thread don't want
and people aren't acting like they aren't religious. they're merely expressing that they want religious freedom for everyoneConvert you? Common, quote me on that. I can't wait to see what sentence I wrote made you think I want to convert you.
And I wouldn't use the word convert in the future, it just doesn't fit. From now on, just use 'save'.
but we don't believe it's saving, so that wouldn't be the proper term for us to use

Hmm...let's be careful to keep this thread about weather or not we should allow religion related avatars, rather than weather it's considered "converting" or "saving", despite our religions.

it actually does have pertinence because this topic has become a bit more, about what scratch's policy as a whole should be on religion
and he's literally trying to force that upon me

Let's all just agree to disagree and get back to the actualtopic.

Not really. We were are talking about if it should be allowed as a avatar. Recently we've been arguing about our religion. Not the avatar itself. BTW I love your sig!

A quick question: do you think I know more about Christianity or do you know more?
Offline
i don't know whether you believe it's saving us or not, but it doesn't matter
i don't think we should use the term 'save' like you suggested because that's not what i think it is

A quick question: do you think I know more about Christianity or do you know more?
A quick response: I was Christian, and am now Not really. So if that matters, you and I are on equal ground.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we will not be implementing it.
On Scratch, it's fine to share your beliefs about faith - whether you are a Christian, Muslim, atheist, or what have you. It's just not ok to do it in a way that's what's called proselytyzing: trying to convince others that your particular beliefs about faith are the only ones that are valid and true. So as long as you can remain tolerant of other's ideas about faith, you are welcome here.
We do sometimes censor projects that are disrespectful or threatening towards other's beliefs about faith. One that suggested that viewers will burn in hell if they don't believe as the project creator did comes to mind. And so does another, that said anyone who believed in God was an idiot. Neither of these projects are ok, because they are disrespectful of other's views.
But for an avatar to be that disrespectful and persistent, it would be pretty hard.
The "He died for you - why don't you live for him?" is getting close to proselytizing, but if you don't agree with it, it can quite easily be ignored (As long as the person who is using it isn't trying to pressure you into changing your views).
This thread is becoming a discussion about religion, so remember that such discussions are not permitted on the Scratch forums, because they tend to become too contentious. If you want to discuss these matters, please go to a forum that welcomes those kinds of discussions.
Continuing the discussion here or on similar threads may result in your account being blocked.
