Gardening

Does anyone like gardening/growing things? I like to grow things in my room and stuff like that. I also have some pomegranate trees that I raised in my room but were moved outside last year, they're really cute :3

Here's a weird story about gardening that literally JUST happened (it's a half day for me).

When I got back from school (not homeschooled), my mom was out front and there was a weird white thing in the yard that was covered in dirt. Then she showed me that it was full of...

GROUND MEAT. It wasn't even rotten. Just ground meat in a paper package, tied with string. Buried in the garden. It's still lying in our yard because it might have some sort of horrible disease in it so no one wants to touch it.

What the fart???

Yeah, gardening isn't the kind of thing you do in a group, if at all...

You mean like that episode of Jimmy Neutron where the pants become alive or just pants that eat meat?

Cool! Right now, I have a peppermint plant, some kind of asparagus-thing (not the kind you eat, but related to it), and a baby aloe vera.

I feel the same way! I love to see how the plants grow bigger, especially with things like my pomegranate trees, which someone else gave to me as tiny sprouts but are now about 3 feet tall.

That's because they're pretty hard to take care of.

Most Venus flytraps like tropical environments and need to be put out in direct sunlight in order to survive. They also end up using a lot of energy whenever they flower, or whenever they're digesting something, which puts them at a disadvantage at some point. Sometimes they even end up overdigesting something and rotted traps can infect the entire plant to turn rotten (unless you're quick enough to snip the trap off early). That's why a lot of Venus flytraps you see in indoor gardens look so pathetic.  neutral

I have one growing in the kitchen, but because it's still cold here in New York City, the plant hasn't been outside (so it hasn't seen much sunlight), so it's kind of suffering. And many of the traps had to be snipped because they were rotten. And it had flowers last summer so it has little energy to generate new traps. It's still alive and green though, and I'm hoping it gives more traps when spring comes around.

i recommend you use a lamp with a florescent light bulb
it gives almost the perfect amount of fake sunlight
