Note: the beta release of version 1.2 is not necessarily better (at least not yet). It will be better when it is finally officially released.
Is there going to be a second beta release of version 1.2, or is the next release going to be the official one?

to andersmh or whom it may concern,
during my long use of scratch,i've wanted the use of these commands:
a command where you can cancel all of a sprites scripts without having to halt the entire game. For example, i have a sprite bg, that moves upon the green flag activating, i would to have all of its scripts to end when my character reaches a certain X & Y Point. a better example: upon green flag,my hero is positioned in middle of sprite Background, now above my hero is a trail into a forest ---[blocks] you can do it like this
<repeat until><( ----- <=> ----- )>
<end>

That's the problem, though. I would have to apply that to all of my scripts. What i'm saying is why not have a command that just halts all the sprite's script. And not have to put repeat until--- to all of the scripts that i want to end... But nevertheless, i can't talk about it here, not the right thread. so carry on.

Ack! I'm trying to open Scratch 1.1 but it is opening Scratch 1.2!
Please help!

I know that the website can only support 1.1 and 1.02. So, I don't have 1.02 and therefore, I cannot download and project to the website! Why is this so bad?
I have already made a new Snn episode in Scratch 1.2! But now the happiness is all gone!

Greatdane and everyone. Please do not use Scratch 1.2 yet because it has not yet been released for massive consumption.

Even badder! Where are all the files that I downloaded for Scratch 1.1? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! They're gone!

wait, the new version was already released?

The web site does support scratch v1.2, but people who download v1.2 projects are likely to be disappointed that they don't run on their own machines.
V1.2 has not been released yet (just a beta version for testing), but the release version will be coming RSN (real soon now).

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all of your feedback on the Scratch 1.2 beta version. Your
comments and suggestions are helping us finalize Scratch 1.2.
We hope to release the final Scratch 1.2 by December 1.
Our mid-November date has moved due to many important fixes that have come up.
Please refrain from using the Scratch 1.2 beta if you would like
maximum compatibility with the projects you download from the website.
Thanks for your patience as we work to fix the new features and blocks
in Scratch!

Is it possible to add a "Save the current project?" message when closing Scratch? (Similar to those appearing when clicking "NEW" or "OPEN"). I think it would be more useful than the current "Want to quit Scratch now?" message.

Hi adlogi,
Thanks for your suggestion. This feature is a little tricky to implement, but it is definitely on our list for something to try to include in a future release (after 1.2).
Please save your projects often so you don't lose your hard work!
Thanks again!

Uhh....if we can't use it, why did you put the download on the site!

Hi Kingoflego,
That is an excellent question, I'm glad you asked!
The Scratch 1.2 beta was posted only on these forums, not on the official download site. The point of the beta was to have some users help us find the bugs and mistakes. We did not intend for it to be used very widely before all bugs were fixed.
Here is an excerpt from the original post which links to the beta download:
A beta-test version of Scratch 1.2 is now available for those interested in helping us with testing and debugging.
Those not interested in testing the potentially buggy, beta version of Scratch should wait for the final Scratch 1.2, which will include a more complete sample projects library, updated help files, and bug fixes.
Thanks to the users who helped us test, we found many bugs to fix!
There were a few unforeseen problems regarding uploading/downloading projects with this beta version, and we apologize if it caused inconvenience.
Now that beta testing period is nearing an end, we do suggest that people who have not downloaded the beta and would like to keep uploading their projects to stick to Scratch v1.1.
I hope that helps!
Please let me know if you still have any questions.

It seems that a lot of people are confused with Version 1.2.
The current official version that you can download by going to http://scratch.mit.edu/download is version 1.1. Version 1.1 was released about 6 months ago and it's the version everyone should have.
Version 1.2 beta is newer than version 1.1 but it's BETA.
What does beta mean?
It means that it has not been fully tested. It has bugs.
Who should use the beta version 1.2?
Only advanced users who are willing to get their projects broken.
When is version 1.2 will be released for everyone out of beta?
The plan is that in a few weeks. It all depends on how long it takes to fix some bugs and other decisions that are being made.
We will inform when version 1.2 is no longer in beta and then everyone is welcome to download it.
In summary, do not use the BETA version unless you are an advanced user.
It seems that this concept of BETA is not understood by everyone and next time we will release beta versions to a limited number of people only to avoid confusion. Apologies to those that thought the beta was for everyone.

That glitch looks like you do not have the MIDI instruments installed. Sorry, I can't help you get them installed, since I've never had to do that.

BIG BUG: When I make a sprite, it does't ever show the sprite box at the bottom.
It is in both versions 1.1 and 1.2
11alex,this sometimes happens to me. it's annoying, but actually all you have to do is double click the sprite you want to see.
