I'm so lost.....

Uh, hi. I've got some questions,
#1: How on earth do I post a new topic in the main page of the forums?
#2: Can I make a scratch project be my profile pic?
#3: If I can't, what do other people use?
#4: How long until I'm a "Scratcher"?
#5: Do I need a certain number of projects or something?

Thanks.

Re: I'm so lost.....

If you want to learn about the Scratch Forums, check out this project. However I will answer your specific questions.

1. Scratchers (and New Scratchers) can post new topics in most forums, but some they cannot, such as the Announcements forum and the FAQ forum. In the forums that you can post in, click the "Post new topic" button above the list of threads.

2. You need to first save the picture of the Scratch project onto your computer, then upload it as your avatar (on your My Stuff page on the left, by clicking "change picture").

3. See above.

4. To become a "Scratcher", you just hae to be an active participant in the Scratch community. This include making projects, commenting on projects, and posting on the forums.  smile

5. Yes, but the exact number isn't given out - but I don't think you have to worry about that requirement.  wink

Hope this helps!

#1: You just did.
#2: You'd have to download the thumbnail, and then check out this thread.
#3: N/A.
#4: The least amount of time is one month, though that may vary depending on how helpful and active you are.
#5: It's rumoured to be three.

I became a Scratcher approximately 20 days after I posted my first post. At that time, I had exactly three projects and the third had been posted only a couple of days before. To become a Scratcher, just be active about a couple times a week and you'll be a Scratcher in no time.

Yeah well that's when you registered on the forums. Which means you posted on the forums a week after registered on the site as a whole.

For #1, only Scratch Team members can put something on the main page of the forums. The only way for you to become a Scratch Team member is if you do something that totally changes the things Scratch does. You do a first of something big. (cheddargirl) Or you graduate from the MIT Labs. If you want to get something sticked on a topic, you create something that will help other Scratchers.
