Is the dustbin a hacked thing?

So, some rumors about the dustbin have found their way to me...
Is this a feature that came with FluxBB (I installed the latest version but there isn't anything like that), or did you add it yourselves?

It's a mod only forum where all the spam threads go.

(I presume).

Re: Is the dustbin a hacked thing?

To my knowledge, the dustbin does not use any special or hacked features. Threads can simply be "moved" to the dustbin, and not be shown on the main forums - using the same options that also allow Community Moderators to sticky and close threads.

Pretty much this, actually. It's a regular old forum like any other, just visible only to mods and admins, and we move any topics or posts that need removing over there instead of deleting them altogether.

If a Scratcher or New Scratcher deletes a topic/post is it permanently deleted or in the dustbin?

I'm pretty sure it'd be deleted.

Yeah. I mean, it'd be virtually impossible for the posts, unless they somehow managed to find a way to move it to an already made thread specifically for deleted posts.

It would be quite good to have though, in the event that a troll deletes their post before a mod comes on.

Re: Is the dustbin a hacked thing?

Well guys,

Remember that Mods can do what ever you want. I can "delete, or edit this reply". But no normal Scratcher can do that. A normal Scratcher can only see, "Quote, or Report". Mods have something different (I think). I think the mods have all these options:

Quote, Edit, Move to Dustbin, Delete, Send to other Mod.

Thats what I think is on the bottom of post for the eyes of a mod.

Mods, correct me if I am wrong.

There isn't a "send to other mod" option. There isn't even a "move to Dustbin" option either, it's just a regular move option that allows a mod to move a post to another thread. Really, now, where are you getting all these ideas from?  tongue

OK...
Now, another question, did moving a single post come with FluxBB? Because I would create a dustbin for my forum, but we can only move whole topics.  hmm

There's a Fluxbb modification for posts/topics to be moved to the dustbin upon clicking delete.  big_smile

you can split it from the topic by clicking 'moderate topic' at the bottom and then move  that

I think jvvg/jacob (my "colleague" that created Mod Share with me) made the code for his fluxbb modification open source... it involves a real dustbin that recovers posts even deleted by non-admins. Why don't you ask us for it on mod share support?

It's just a (largely invisible) forum.
