I'm New
I am new to scratch and have a few questions:
1. Should I use Java or Flash Player?
2. What is the simplist way of making a game?
3. Do you know any games that might give me inspiration for my own?

It depends on the project you're viewing. Some projects work better in Flash than in Java or better in Java than in Flash.
2. What is the simplist way of making a game?
Try out the different scratch blocks and see how they work. When you have an idea yet, you can ask for help in the forums.
3. Do you know any games that might give me inspiration for my own?
the scratch website is full of many different projects. Just check out the front page.

Hi!
You should use flash because it is faster and most projects run better in flash.
See my Scratch Intro for game making tips and stuff like that.

Make your projects in Scratch, then test it out in the Flash and Java players to see which one works best.

Flash or download usually works best for most projects, and if you need to use the java player, it will usually tell you to do so in the project notes. It varies from project to project, so make sure you check the project notes.
2. What is the simplist way of making a game?
I didn't do this, but I would reccomened looking through the scratch files and see what games bases look interesting to you, and then build off of one of them 
3. Do you know any games that might give me inspiration for my own?
That depends on what kind of game you want to make!

You could use both, most projects involve flash but some involve java.

Scratch!
