So, some of the minecraft fans aren't happy about the newest updates, myself included. I think the new mobs lack originality and it seems like they didn't put much thought in. Plus, they don't add much to the game. The whole mushroom biome is pointless since you can get mushrooms elsewhere quite easily.
Some things I liked though, like endermen. But what I hated the most is how much of an RPG it was becoming. And the enderdragon, and the whole 'beating the game'
I like RPGs, but not for minecraft!
Some people don't mind that it is become this way, some do. This mod is just for the people who want it to be the original sandbox game it was, but with continuing updates!
So here it is. I call it, 'Minecraft: Take Two'
FEATURES:
Everything from 1.7.3 and before (That was when it started getting different)
1.8's Map Generator
Nether Ruins
Ravines
Strongholds
Volcanoes
Glaciers
Jungles
Seasons
Bigger Oceans, smaller islands, with some large continents
Lots of Music Discs
Normal, Creative and Hardcore Mode
MAtmos
MOBS:
Fish (Ocean) Small, Medium or Large
Rat (Caves, or Forests) Peaceful, but they steal dropped items
Bat (Caves, or Forests at night) Neutral, the swoop down and bite you (half a heart damage) when you startle them. Often on cave ceilings in large groups
Bird (Day in forests or rainforests) Peaceful, if you throw seeds on the ground they will land and eat them. Drops feathers, and occasionally a worm. Comes in many colours: black, brown, white, red, blue.
Owl (Night in forests) Peaceful, can be tamed and used for fighting. 3 Variations (Snow, Forest and Pygmy)
Enderman (Night) Neutral, become hostile when your back is turned, drop ender pearls
Mummy (Night, Desert Only) Hostile, act like zombies, drop cloth and sand
Magma Cube (Nether) Hostile, drop lava buckets
TOOLS:
Telescope:
Used for seeing far away things up close.
Crafting:
ITEMS:
New Meats:
Sheep drop mutton now:
Squid drop tentacles:
Worms:
Worms can be used to craft bait rods.
Bait rods have a higher chance of catching fish.
BLOCKS:
Lava Rock:
This block is what mostly builds up volcanoes.
Cracked Lava Rock:
The crater at the top of the volcano is made of these.
Cauldron:
Since we took out potions (they are too fantasy RPGish for this mod), we thought of having cauldrons for soup instead.
This is the stewing GUI:
You put the bowl on the bottom spot, and your ingredients in the two spaces above it. The fuel goes in the spot on the left.
Lets make some fish stew!
Yum yum yum.
You can make mushroom stew, fish stew, pork stew, beef stew, chicken stew, mutton stew, squid stew and pumpkin stew.
Plants:
Grass
Oak Trees
Birch Trees
Pine Trees
Jungle Trees
Palm Trees
Red Flowers
Yellow Flowers
Pumpkins
Melons
Vines
Lillypads
Season Effects:
Spring:
-Flowers are more common
-Rain occurs more frequently
-Birch leaves are pink
Summer:
-Tall grass grows more commonly
-Peaceful mobs are more common
-Oak trees can bear apples
-Rain is rare
Autumn:
-Grass is orange
-Oak trees turn orange
-Birch trees turn red
-Oak trees can bear apples
-Pine trees, palm trees and jungle trees stay the same
-Creepers become orange
Winter:
-It snows everywhere all the time (except in deserts, jungles, and the nether)
-All water freezes
-All trees besides pine have less leaves
-Mobs are less frequent
-Creepers become white
Other Changes:
-Music Discs loop endlessly
-Snow can land on half steps and stairs
-Clocks and Maps can be placed on vertical surfaces
-Wolves come in four colors (grey, brown, black and white)
-Enderpearls are used for protection from endermen

Wow. Well, good luck. I see a lot of work in your future.

Good mod, but personally, I like the idea of the enderdragon. It makes minecraft an actual game, not just a survival challange.

A survival challenge is a game...
But 1.8's terrain? That was when things went bad. No beaches, boring terrain (eg. completely flat forests)

Yea, but a game that you can complete, and that has a goal to it.

Completed the game? Well now you're going to be bored of it.
The fact that you couldn't complete it made it unique, I never thought Notch wanted people to buy it, complete it then never touch it again.

You can play it over and over again anyway, but my point is, I liked having a goal to the game. End of.

Yeah, not like replaying a game gets boring.
Before there was no target, it was brilliant, you made your own, you could challenge yourself to make a huge tower, it had replay ability, with enderdragons included and a set goal nobody played it after that.

Squid...Stew?
BLEAARRRGGGHHHH
Also, you could leave potions in

Personally, though, I think the End is good. Those who like that sort of things can enjoy it while the others simply ignore it. And anyway, you can't complete minecraft. You're able to continue on after you beat the End.

People want to see everything, and you can still play Zelda after completing it 100%, but by then people have done what the game wanted and stopped playing.

Did you ever see the create new world button? Well click single player, and it's at the bottom of the screen.

But some people want to see everything they've paid £20 for, if someone sold you a car and told you that you're not allowed to use the fifth gear then you would be curious.

Yes, yes, ignore my other points and try make me look like I'm an idiot who doesn't even know how to create a new world despite owning MC since the 5th public release.

Who said you weren't allowed? I'll repeat myself.
You don't have to complete it if you don't want to. That obviously means if you want to complete it you can.

If you want to have fun with the game and not get bored of it you shouldn't complete the end.

Well don't if you don't freaking want to. That's what he just said. And anyway, you won't get bored of it, since you can continue on afterwards. It's just an added challenge. Think of it as that. A side-challenge. Not required, not a big changer.

This is going off-topic.
Anyway, hope you get the mod done successfully!

Gentlemen, please carry this argument over to one of my projects so I can print screen it and put it in my signature.

To be honest, I think you've added 'too much' to it. If I wanted this, I would want it as close to the previous Minecraft as possible. The taken 1.8+ features seem good enough to be honest.

1.8's map gen? I personally like 1.1's map gen better than it, because it's not as flat.
