Saving Sprites as JPEGs

I once tried to copy and paste a sprite, but it didn't work.  So I tried opening it on paint, but it didn't work because it was a sprite, not a JPEG.  I think there should be some way of saving sprites as JPEGs.

Re: Saving Sprites as JPEGs

There is. On windows, you goto "Save file as" then select what type of file. Bit-map 256 (I think) work, and for sure, JPEG's.

Re: Saving Sprites as JPEGs

I had to poke around a little bit, but I figured this out.

To save a costume as an image file:

- go to the "costumes" tab
- right-click (on mac, control-click) on the sprite you want
- from the menu, choose "export"
- this lets you save the costume as a bmp file

This will let you open up the costume in an image editing program (in case the scratch paint editor doesn't let you do what you want).  Once you've edited it, you can import it back into scratch using the "import" button in the costumes tab.

What, exactly, do you need help with?  Is it saving sprites as JPEGS (the topic of this thread) on a Mac?  If so, try holding down the Option key while clicking on a sprite costume.  See if a menu appears with Export as one of the options.  That will likely put them out in BMP format, not JPEG - but it's should be pretty easy to find an image editing program that can convert from BMP to any other format you want, including JPEG.

What's wrong with raising up an old thread, if the problem you are facing happens to be the same problem?

That makes whitespace, though.

Re: Saving Sprites as JPEGs

whenever you export something with transparency doesn't it automatically become a .gif? it should be simple to convert it from there

but having it be a gif is kind of terrible because it loses colour information

the best thing to do would be to open up your project in the alpha and then export the costume from there, which i think saves as a png if it wasn't originally an svg or made in the vector editor

Re: Saving Sprites as JPEGs

I have a mac Mighty Mouse, so I can right click all I want on my Mac.

:D

Alright, this is probably one of the oldest active topics, and I think it's done now, and wants us to put it out of it's misery.

That's not what we're looking for. And please read at least the post above you before posting yourself.

I guess my report earlier didn't go through, so I'll try again.
